Friday thru Sunday (23rd – 25th)

We just hung out at the house. Shannon was feeling better after her blood transfusion from the previous day. The boys helped me with some outside chores. We made some fence repairs on one side of our backyard, worked on cleaning up storm debris from the pool and started to build the fence on the other side of our backyard.

Monday 26th

Shannon had a cell count check and doctor appointment. I dropped her off for the appointment and then ran to our daughter’s house to get her sample for the HLA match. We had test kits for Shannon, Q and Jesslyn. We had to test all three on the same day and then drop at FedEx. The HLA test kits are just a set of 4 swabs and test tubes. Each person has to swab the inside of their cheeks and then the samples are sent to the lab at Methodist Hospital. This is to check to see if any of Shannon’s close relatives will be a match for her bone marrow transplant. They’re checking children and siblings first. The transplant is still many months away but there’s lots of testing and prep work to do in advance.

I ran back and picked up Shannon from the doctor appointment. She said she met with Manila the NP and her cell counts were great. Everything was within normal limits and the plan was to admit her for another cycle of chemo on Thursday. After the appointment we headed to Cleburne’s Cafeteria again for lunch.
