The past 2 days were fairly quiet. The main issue was the spinal headache Shannon was dealing with. The only relief she could get was to lay flat or use a strong narcotic pain med. She doesn’t like taking pain meds and the relief would wear off after a few hours.
On Monday morning a Physician Assistant from IR came by to assess her spinal headache and explain the blood patch procedure. They take a small sample of blood from her central line and inject it into the intrathecal space. The blood will naturally travel to where the small leak is and form a clot over the hole sealing it up.
They took her down to IR around 2pm. They let me sit with her until it was time for the procedure. Once they took her back, It didn’t take long and they were done. She had a good experience this time, no pain. She went back to her room and had to lay flat for 2 hours. It worked ..no headache anymore.
She ate a big dinner and got her last bag of chemo for Round 1A. No issues from the chemo. Overall, it was a good day.
On Tuesday we just need to get her central line removed and get home. The line is a tunneled catheter so it has to be removed by a doctor in IR. Hopefully they can get her on the schedule tomorrow so we can get it removed and go home.
That’s crazy how they can do that to clog the whole up. Glad she’s doing better love you guys
