Yesterday the 25th was a lazy day. It rained a lot and we slept a lot. We are still trying to normalize our internal clocks from being in the hospital for 3+ weeks. I worked a little but it was fairly slow. Shannon went LIVE on Instagram both yesterday and today. It’s therapeutic for her, plus friends/family watching can interact with her.

Yesterday we had a long phone conversation with Elsa, the Nurse Navigator for the Oncology Clinic. We reviewed meds, upcoming appointments and also the upcoming hospitalization. Next week is a busier one. On Monday Shannon has to go to Quest Diagnostic for her cell count check. She has to use a Quest lab due to the recent Covid diagnosis. Wednesday the 31 she has a PET CT scan scheduled. Thursday will be another cell count check back at the usual clinic. Then on Friday is her next bone marrow biopsy. The following week she will probably be admitted back to the hospital around Aug. 6th for her next cycle of chemotherapy. That admission should be approximately 5 days long.

This morning Shannon noticed that her hair is starting to fall out in small clumps. Not enough has fallen out that anyone would notice though. It’s to be expected but now it’s actually happening. She’s contemplating how she will cover her head once it’s all gone; wigs, bandanas, scarfs, caps, etc. She’ll have to test out the options and see what feels right for her.

I put together some Google Sheets yesterday with an MAR (Medication Administration Record) and Vital sign record. I’m keeping track of all her meds both scheduled and PRN (as needed). We are also doing her vital signs twice a day. However, she’s a bit obsessed with her temperature. I think she’s been checking it hourly, and she carries the thermometer around with her. I suppose this is better than not checking it enough. Her doctor advised that if it gets to 100.4 F or greater, she has to go straight the to ER at Baylor St. Luke’s. I think she’s just fearful that she might run a fever. She’s been good so far though; no fever and her other vital signs have been withing normal limits. We are going to aim for a relaxing weekend.
