The weekend was rainy and quiet. We pretty much just rested, watched movies, and ate. The clinic scheduled a phone meeting for Shannon with a mentor named Vanessa who has had the same diagnosis. Shannon will be speaking with her for the first time on July 31st. It will be good for her to be able to talk with someone who has been thru all of this already. The Baylor system continues to impress us.
Shannon has had some achy bones over the weekend and also more daily hair loss. It comes out in clumps when she brushes her hair or runs her fingers thru it.
This morning Shannon decided to go ahead and shave her head because it was getting very thin and patchy. I used a pair of Wahl Senior clippers with a 1/2 guard and it came right off. She actually looks really good with it cut off. She looks like a model or like she’s making a fashion statement. I like it.
Shannon had to get labs drawn this morning for a cell count check, but we had to go to a Quest Lab vs the Clinic due to her Covid diagnosis. Regarding Covid, she hasn’t had any major symptoms, just a little congestion, slight cough and some nasal drainage. Overall, she’s handling it well and she just took the last of the Covid antiviral meds this morning.
Shannon’s mother came into town this afternoon to help us out. She’s going to be at home with Shannon while I work and get some chores done on the outside of the house. This week will be a busy one. Today was labs, Tuesday is a virtual doctor visit, Wednesday is a PET Scan, Thursday is another Cell Count Check, and Friday is a bone marrow biopsy. Then next week Shannon is supposed to be admitted for another 5 days or so of chemotherapy.
