Hi Everyone,
Shannon has been diagnosed with
Early T-Cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ETP ALL)
EarlyT-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ETP-ALL) is a highly aggressive subtype of T-ALL characterized by the abnormal expression of myeloid/stem cell antigens. The plan for her is to receive 3 to 4 rounds(6-8 cycles of A and B each) of chemotherapy and get into remission. Then, she will undergo a bone marrow transplant to completely replace her bone marrow with healthy marrow and keep the disease from returning.
Shannon has many friends and family that want to stay updated on the latest news regarding her health and treatment plans. This website will serve as a place for updates so that we can post one update that everyone has access to. This frees up time spent texting many individual numbers and also prevents us from accidently leaving people out. Please feel free to leave comments on each post/update. Shannon will be able to read all of your comments.

Aug. 8th
We started the day off still on the 7th floor, waiting for a bed to open up on the 20th floor. Shannon ate breakfast and Dr. Diamond and his residents rounded. Then, around 11am we heard a knock at the door. It was transporation trying to pick up Shannon for IT Chemo...

Aug. 7th
The new attending came by in the morning, Dr. Yun...I'm guessing at the spelling. The attending docs rotate every week or two so they're constantly changing. Dr. Diamond and a resident came by as well. Dr. Diamond is rounding for the Oncology Team this week. He was...

August 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th
Saturday and Sunday, August 3rd and 4th, there's not much to report. We had a quiet weekend, did some cleaning, ate a lot of my mother-in-laws food and rested. Our neighbor Mr. Vince and his wife Eileen brought us a smoked brisket, which we took care of real quick....

July 30th, 31st, August 1st, 2nd
The past several days have been filled with trips to the clinic. On Tuesday Shannon had a virtual visit that was rescheduled because the NP (Nurse Practitioner) was out of the office due to illness. Shannon had a virtual visit with the NP on Wednesday Morning and then...
July 27th, 28th, 29th
The weekend was rainy and quiet. We pretty much just rested, watched movies, and ate. The clinic scheduled a phone meeting for Shannon with a mentor named Vanessa who has had the same diagnosis. Shannon will be speaking with her for the first time on July 31st. It...

July 25th and 26th
Yesterday the 25th was a lazy day. It rained a lot and we slept a lot. We are still trying to normalize our internal clocks from being in the hospital for 3+ weeks. I worked a little but it was fairly slow. Shannon went LIVE on Instagram both yesterday and today. It's...

July 24th – Clinic Visit/COVID
Shannon's had a visit at the clinic, Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, for her cell count check and a visit with the doctor. Dr Abuasab said everything is going as planned. He's about to leave the country for 2 weeks to visit family in Jordan and Jerusalem,...
July 23rd – We Are Home
Shannon's blood patch held up and she remained headache free. She received her last chemo infusion (quick one...only 15 minutes) the night of the 22nd. All of the doctors rounded in the morning and no news. We also met with the Clinical Pharmacist and he went over all...

July 21st and 22nd
The past 2 days were fairly quiet. The main issue was the spinal headache Shannon was dealing with. The only relief she could get was to lay flat or use a strong narcotic pain med. She doesn't like taking pain meds and the relief would wear off after a few hours. On...

July 19th & 20th
Not much going on the past couple of days. No scheduled procedures and no chemo. The only thing to note is that Shannon has had a lingering headache. It's worse when she sits up or stands up. We're thinking it's a spinal headache caused by CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid)...
