Hi Everyone,
Shannon has been diagnosed with
Early T-Cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ETP ALL)
EarlyT-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ETP-ALL) is a highly aggressive subtype of T-ALL characterized by the abnormal expression of myeloid/stem cell antigens. The plan for her is to receive 3 to 4 rounds(6-8 cycles of A and B each) of chemotherapy and get into remission. Then, she will undergo a bone marrow transplant to completely replace her bone marrow with healthy marrow and keep the disease from returning.
Shannon has many friends and family that want to stay updated on the latest news regarding her health and treatment plans. This website will serve as a place for updates so that we can post one update that everyone has access to. This frees up time spent texting many individual numbers and also prevents us from accidently leaving people out. Please feel free to leave comments on each post/update. Shannon will be able to read all of your comments.

Shannon had a rough night. Her pain is increasing as the lymph nodes increase in size. To me it feels like there's also a lot of swelling and inflammation around the lymph nodes in her neck. Her attending prescribed a powerful IV pain medication that she can have...

Shannon ate lunch: Turkey with Gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. Slow day so far due to the holiday. Shannon's attending "Dr. G" did stop by briefly and said all Infectious Disease results are negative so far. There's no results available on the biopsy from...
July 3rd, Biopsy
Shannon was NPO since midnight last night (latin: "nil per os"... a.k.a. nothing by mouth). They didn't want her to eat just in case a spot opened up on the surgical schedule. Surgically removing one of the affected lymph nodes provides a better sample for the lab to...
July 1st and 2nd
On July 1st we visited our PCP Dr. Hoang and decided to head straight to Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center aftewards. We went to St. Lukes because our original suspicion was that Shannon had Lymphoma. That was the potential diagnosis made from the outpatient ER where...
