Shannon had a good night with the chemotherapy. It’s still running (24 hour infusion). It will be completed around midnight tonight. Then she will start a different one that is given every 12 hours. The only side effect she experienced was some night sweats and fatigue. They premedicated her with anti-nausea meds and those have worked perfect for her.
This morning she was scheduled for early morning IT Chemo in the IR department. Our nurse called down to see who the doctor was. It was Dr. Fahrtash, so she was good to go. She went down to IR and it didn’t take long at all today. She came back and said Dr. Fahrtash did great, no discomfort at all. She said he really takes extra steps to ensure he’s being thorough with her and explains everthing. After she returned to her room, she laid flat for a couple of hours to let the puncture site heal up and help prevent spinal headaches.
She ate a late breakfast and the Oncology Team stopped by (Dr. Diamond and his Residents). We reviewed everything again with Dr. Diamond regarding the issues with IR and her preference of IR Doctors. Her IV chemo has been running all day and no issues with that. The only thing that’s started to pop up is a headache this afternoon. It’s 5:30pm now and she’s been having this for a couple of hours. The nurse gave her some Tylenol to see if it would help. The Tylenol didn’t help so we are thinking it could possibly be another spinal headache. It’s too early to tell right now. Headaches are also just a side effect of IT Chemo from what I’ve read, so hopefully it will resolve overnight.
The biggest dilemma of the evening is what we’re eating for dinner. Overall, it’s been a good day at Baylor St. Medical Center.
Thanks for the update. You got this Shannon.
